Two Ethiopians arrested
Two Ethiopian maintenance workers apparently stowed away in the
ceiling of a trans-Atlantic flight that landed at Dulles International Airport from
Addis Ababa The two men were both wearing Ethiopian Airlines uniforms,
including identification badges They are seeking asylum and are currently
in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody Ethiopia is one of few
countries from Africa with FAA's Category 1 designation which meets ICAO standards
Yesterday two Ethiopians stow away were found on a Ethiopian airplane
coming from Addis. Apparently they hid in a jet's ceiling for at least 36 hours.
They said this is a serious security breach, which might threaten air
transportation from Ethiopia to the US. WUSA's Nancy Yamada reports.
The regional director of Ethiopian air lines on the other said Ethiopians flee
their homefor for economic reasons but don't want mention most left their
home for political reasons. Why he don't want say it? because he is in

the government denied them applications to launch new newspapers
on Tuesday. All the journalists spent 17 months in prison following

Kinijit suspended five outlaws
In a letter signed by the chairman, the announcement revealed the long awaited decision to suspend the five delegates who made their way to North America in early September in the pretext of thanking CUD Diaspora supporters.
The decision to suspend these five outlaws is a right one in light of the reneged groups’ recent move to divide Kinijit into two rather than reconcile with Kinijit for whatever wrong they did and say in the media during their tour in North America. In addition to that, evidences are becoming visible in which the delegates move to come to North America was far from sinister. Abandoning the promise they made to reconcile the divided Diaspora, they fuelled it by siding themselves to outlaws and organize them against the chairman and other Kinijit members.
Their attempt to isolate chairman Hailu from Kinijit leadership undemocratically by spreading false rumors and bad characterization and replace him by Dr.Berehanu Nega (a character that see himself as the only person who knows how to win the struggle) had angered so many and such decision to suspend them was a decision that has been yearned for so long. Now the Euphoria has gone, nice speeches and slogans about democracy has gone and it is time to do the work since without work nothing can change. After all, Ethiopians won’t be free from their hardship through the reneged groups empty promise and slogans. Party cohesiveness and loyalty not to themselves, but to the people who entrusted them is the key issue for change and progress. Kinijit is better without them and the decision to suspend them is perhaps timely if not too late.

Wrapping up his first official visit to Ethiopia, the United Nations humanitarian chief today called for prompt action to avert a serious crisis in the country's Somali region, where fighting has left hundreds of thousands of people in need of life-saving assistance.The situation in the Somali region featured prominently in discussions between UN Emergency Relief Coordinator John Holmes and senior Ethiopian officials, including the Prime Minister, his Deputy and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the capital, Addis Ababa.Humanitarian conditions have worsened in the region in the past several months due to fighting between the Ethiopian National Defence Forces and the Ogaden National Liberation Front.
Mr. Holmes, who visited the strife-torn region yesterday, shared his observations about the humanitarian situation there and expressed concerns of the aid community on the ground. He also discussed ways in which the UN could support the Government in its efforts to provide relief to affected populations.
The UN has dispatched more than 7,300 metric tonnes of food to the five military zones in the region, according to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Preparations are also being finalized to deploy 15 mobile health teams, including 10 in the area of conflict.
"There are grounds for concern regarding the potential for a very serious humanitarian crisis,"
Mr. Holmes said. "But we can avert this if we take all the necessary actions, working alongside the Government."
While in Addis Ababa, Mr. Holmes also met with representatives of the UN Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE), including the Secretary-General's Special Representative, Azouz Ennifar, with whom he discussed issues relating to the Ethiopia-Eritrea border situation.In addition, the Emergency Relief Coordinator held talks with the African Union Commissioner for Peace and Security, Said Djint.

Is It Lack of Internal Democracy or a Power Struggle?
Dr. Berhanu came into multi-party politics in October 2004. Hence, he has a very negligible experience in political party organization and management. The short period of his leadership in Kestedemena has been marred by the withdrawal of Prof. Mesfin and Ato Bedru Adem from his party, presumably because of his inability to provide democratic leadership.
Dr. Berhanu is also suspect on the criterion of commitment to Kinijit since he regularly meets (see, for example, pp. 301, 343) with Ato Bereket and other senior EPRDF cadres without Kinijit's authorization. Such meetings, especially those with Bereket and the Prime Minister, have seriously compromised the position of Kiniit. Indeed, a leader of Kinijit cannot handle Kinijit's sensitive affairs during the day, and hung out with Bereket during the evening.
The book tells us about Dr. Berhanu's problems of haste and waste, his lack of informed judgment (e.g. his erroneous perception of the strengths of multi-ethnic parties and his refusal to accept the victory predictions of Ato Hailu under free and fair elections), his disregard for the principles of internal democracy when it suits him, his hostile descriptions of prominent political leaders ( Ato Hailu, Prof. Mesfin, Prof. Beyene, Dr. Merera, and Ato Chekol, but not Ato Bereket or Ato Meles) who are potential allies in the democratic struggle, and his utter incompetence (e.g. failure to ensure a level playing field, poor political campaign organization and management, his support for naďve and elitist criteria for candidacy in rural Ethiopia, and total failure in all negotiations) as Kinijit's Political Campaign Chief.
His respect for internal democracy is also highly suspect when one sees his role in the meeting of the group of 22, his self-nomination for the Chairmanship of the Political Campaign Committee (pp.223, 226), his unauthorized cancellation of the Kinijit pre-conditions for negotiations with Bereket, his unauthorized submission of a Transitional Government of Unity proposal to the Prime Minister without the knowledge of the Kinijit leadership and his unauthorized statement that Kinijit would join parliament during his post-election tours in London and Washington, D.C., among several others. A real leader like a lion cares less for scores of shouting hyenas

No one can deny his character, courage and charisma that can be likened with the king of the jungle – the lion. In the real jungle life, the king of all the beasts, the aging lion will be mocked by hyenas running around him, shouting and instigating a fight and posing themselves to take away whatever he earned . In most cases the little hyenas get crushed by the aging lion in a bad way that would eventually make them live under the left over of the lion-king as scavengers.
Hailu Shawel has been defiant to Woyanne and stood firm for the Ethiopian cause and he is a man who is ready to die for it . He had worked hard to bring the Ethiopian struggle for freedom to the point where it is now. Like the story of the hyenas, there are many now who are trying to discredit his good name and take opportunity by character assasinating him. While Hailu Shawel is not a man that will be detered by such egoist and opportunistic individuals, we would like to inform true Ethiopians to be cautious and reason out and come out to defend a hero like Hailu Shawel from any kind of smear campaign directed by the reneged groups' medias and its websites

A Real Moment with Dr. Berehanu Nega
If dozens of articles written by short sighted individuals with titles like "My moment with Dr Berehanu Nega" can torpedo Dr. Berehanu Nega to the leadership position of the kinijit, this audio clip and many other evidences can send him back to the bottom of the oceans, not even to be remembered again.
In the clip, Dr. Berehanu made two serious crimes. One is lying infront of the public and the other is being undemocratic (contrary to his daily preaching of democracy) on the way he appoint his people in the party structure. It looks like the wise professor Mesfin had reasons to distance himself from Dr. Berehanu. His testimony on VOA recently warns us that Berehanu is a power monger who always wants to be on top of everyone, which is a recipe, perahphs a big one to an outright dictatorship.
Dr. Berehanu, the time is long gone for silver-tongued speakers to fool the Ethiopian people and ascend into power. Narrative speeches about democracy and bravados are nothing compared to real courage, love and integerity of the real leader of Kinijit known to have possed.

About the Looming War
Is The Eritrean leadership in a position to salvage Ethiopians from the brut force of Meles Zenawi? Some people might have flirted with the idea of siding with Shabia on the rumored war that threatened our horn region hoping to get something out of it. The Ethiopian people would not and have not benefited from either Shabia or Weyanne. The fight and rivalry between Shabia and Woyanne is simply for the betterment of Eritrea in their own ways. It is clear from the actions and words of these two leaderships that they are all for Eritrea and their action is almost like “I am better than you for Adey Ertra and I can make her better using Ethiopian resources”. It would be wise for any Ethiopian opposition to stay away from being used and outsmarted by these destructive forces who had always wished destruction for the state of Ethiopian.
By the way studies made by The Royal Institute of International Affairs concluded that Eritrean Economy is in its downfall and reached to a point where it couldn’t recover anymore. Perhaps this war would be to salvage Eritrea by the Weyanne leadership from the position Eritrea found itself since the day it succeeded from Ethiopia. The 78 page document is written by the Royal Institute of International Affairs is titled ERITREA’S ECONOMIC SURVIVAL and is available here. If the analysis of the study is true, Eritrea is not in a position to fight a conventional war by itself but situated itself to resist invasion with the anti-Ethiopian forces it trained and lined to fight along side, such us the ICU, ONLF, and OLF.
It is sad to see the Ethiopian opposition being nowhere to get an opportunity to be a regional player and get a negotiable settlement out of such situations to democratize Ethiopia. Thanks to power mongers like Berehanu Nega, his coup associates and their media advocates, who are being obstacle to a political process that would have forced Woyanne to change its destructive way of leading the Ethiopian people. The reneged groups’ undecided behavior of where to go by putting one of its leg with Shabia sponsored AFD and the other leg to US state department sponsored TPLF parliament membership is something a rational Ethiopian need to fight.

Members of the central committee of TPLF has been in a meeting for the last couple of days to discuss the possibility of war with Eritrea. According to EZ Post sources, Meles Zenawi who was in India has skipped the meeting. Eye witnesses in Tigray report that there is a massive movement of Ethiopian troops to the border area.Some foreign diplomats in Addis Ababa also claim that the war may start very soon.
Some fade up groups raise arm to fight, some chose peaceful struggle by disobeying the regime, others lost hope on the fake parliament and regretted joining it, but a group led by Bertukan Mideksa and Dr. Brehanu Nega is on its way to clap its hands for Meles Zenawi-the head of TPLF in the rubber stamp parliament

The American government has invited Ethiopian opponents to Washington for talks with opposition leaders recently freed from prison. The latter group, led by Ms Birtukan Mideksa (ION 1222), came to the USA on its own steam two weeks ago. All were received at the State Department on 21 September by American officials working on the Africa and Ethiopia desks.
This meeting gathered Beyene Petros, Merera Gudina, the former President Negaso Gidada, Ayele Chemiso (an MP from the legal arm of the CUDP), Lidetu Ayalew, Berhanu Nega, Birtukan Mideksa and Hailu Araya. Their discussions with the American officials concerned how the Ethiopian opposition could adopt a joint political platform so that it could take part in the next elections in Ethiopia with the approval of the Addis Ababa government. They also discussed a strategy to sideline the hard wing of the opposition, consisting of Hailu Shawel and the EPRP, which wants nothing to do with the current EPRDF regime in Ethiopia.
The talks are expected to continue with further meetings with the presence of Bulcha Demeksa, currently passing through Washington. The American Deputy Secretary of State for African Affairs, Jendayi Frazer is expected to meet these Ethiopian opponents this week. This American mediation is consistent with the strategy devised by the US Ambassador to Addis Ababa Donald Yamamoto, intending to isolate Amhara radicals such as Hailu Shawel and the anti-EPRDF forces like the EPRP.
