Bertukan MideQsa, the woman who is plunging herself to a ground disastrously like a Japanese suicide kamikaze pilot is committing reckless after reckless moves to be only remembered on history books. Her popularity since her release from Kaliti is going down at an alarming rate to a point where many in Kinijit started to likened her behaviors with that of a high school girl. We have listed here some of her reckless behaviors for the last few months.
1- Her confrontational interview with a Washington based media in which she said she doesn’t want to welcome Chairman Hailu on his arrival to Washington DC. (She was looking her chairman as her enemy from the start)
2- Her infamous speech at Boston in which she asked Chairman Hailu to follow her while he is in a hospital bed treating his pain. Her attempt to paint Hailu Shawel as uncooperative leader and herself as a humble one was successful only to weak individuals and goofy editors. But many true Ethiopians reject her PR stunt and waited to see and hear her next reckless behavior
3- Her apology to Tigrayans on behalf of Bedru Adem and the Kinijit.org website was perhaps the most outrageous one. Birtukan showed that she can be more ruthless and cruel than the Ethiopian high-court judges who set free Bedru Adem from the same accusations. Alas, what a waste of education. She hasn’t used her law books as a reference to accuse Bedru Adem.
4- Only 100 political prisoners in Ethiopia. This is the insult of all insults to all Ethiopians particularly for the families who were affected by the tragedy. Bertukan was asked in the congress to testify in which she replied there are only 100 political prisoners in Ethiopia. At the time where the Meles Regime was releasing 30,000 political prisoners from Jail and human right groups estimate the number to approximately 70,000 political prisoners, Berehanu’s vice president Bertukan Mideqsa limited it to just hundred. It looks like the Meles regime has shown fairness much better than her by releasing Bedru Adem whom she wanted him to languish for more years and for the 30,000 political prisoners it admitted while Bertukan limited the number to just one hundred. Some one is heard saying that the 100 political prisoners Bertukan quoted were Kestedemena (Berehanu’s small party) Members showing her solidarity with him. While we don’t agree with the above assumption, we say it is a pure sign of her incompetence to the position she held.
5- Bertukan now has broken the two and half year boycott and gave interview for the government mouth piece-Reporter
Bertukan seems to keep adding more and more reckless moves to fasten her political downfall to a point where she can only be remembered in history books. Being reckless is becoming her trademark. One does not need to be surprised any more if she says anything outrageous. She chooses her own way and there will be no chance to come back to the glory she earned when she went to jail three years ago. As Chairman Hailu said once, going to jail alone won’t make us heroes. She should have listened to the advice of the wise men who advised her not to look down on the people who didn’t go to jail. But we will remember her forever.
